Download manager and delayed downloads

Currently if you click anywhere other than the downloader window it will cancel whatever the download was, this is problematic for "delayed" downloads, ex MEGA.

When you have a download that runs in the background like on MEGA, or any other side where there is a timer before the download starts, it can cause you to lose the download because you accidentally click somewhere in the browser right when the dialogue appears.

Would it be possible to change the download dialogue to not go away when you click somewhere else on the browser?


When I compare the catsxp download manager to the one in Cent browser it is fairly lacking in usability. On Cent browser you can stack up multiple download dialogues and they do not get cancelled if you click somewhere else in the browser, on catsxp you lose your downloads if you click off the dialogue.

Linked below is a video example, it would be nice if the downloads you clicked off were at least stored in the catsxp://downloads/ dialogue for you to still be able to save those files.

Yes, I am already aware that you can disable the download manager window(flexible window) entirely and get normal download dialogues. I am asking for the ability to keep the download manager and have it hold your downloads in the background/download menu like how cent/edge(no manager, just download window) handles them.


If I was going to just disable the download manager there would have been no reason to make this post, having the manager with the ability to select from prior save directories is a fairly good quality of life feature.

If you lose focus, the download will be canceled by default. There are advantages and disadvantages.

I am not sure what the benefits of losing your downloads to clicking in the wrong spot are, the downside is that if a download has a delayed start you can't do anything else with the browser until it actually starts or you risk losing it.

On Edge if you click off of it, it does not get cancelled it just gets moved to the download menu instead of losing it entirely.

Sites like Mega, Google Drive, a lot of random free download sites with 1-5 minute delay after clicking the "download" button all make it so that you need to just stop using your browser until the download actually starts or you risk losing it and having to start over.

And yes, I understand that you can turn off the flexible download window and use the default save-as dialogue but that completely removes the convenience of the "recent locations" dropdown that the flexible window provides.

I also understand that external download managers are an option, for example IDM, which I use and enjoy but it is not compatible with all downloads. One of the biggest things that external download managers fail at is blob storage files that are used by some extensions and userscripts.

The download delay does not affect the download function of the flexible window. When the background responds to the message of the download server, the flexible window will be automatically called out. Do you want to express whether there is a download queue function similar to edge?
